Steven K Smith, PE, founded a structural firm in 1993 primarily to meet the needs of General Motors by establishing the initial framework for engineering standards for their manufacturing tools and equipment. Under Steve’s guidance, GM updated its engineering specifications for manufacturing automation. Additionally, he helped them codify guidelines for analyzing the structural limits of existing equipment to ensure the safety or their plant workers and mitigate equipment failure.

Steve earned his BSCE from Purdue University and his MSCE from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the American Concrete Institute and registered Professional Engineer. He is considered an industry leader in Finite Element Analysis. SES was created to not only continue the strong track record of success in the field of automotive manufacturing, but also to leverage Steve’s expertise in applications for the Wireless Telecommunications industry by working hand in hand with the wireless development firm SMJ International.
